♟️ Jihlava Open 2025: Regulations Published! A Week Full of Chess and Fun Awaits

Jihlava Open – International Chess Festival 2025

The International Chess Festival Jihlava Open will take place this year from July 7th to 13th, 2025, in the comfortable premises of the EA Business Hotel Jihlava.

The tournament is held in an attractive location with excellent transport connections and accommodation available directly at the venue. In addition to the chess battles themselves, you can look forward to side events including simuls, a table tennis tournament, Basque chess, and the traditional pub quiz.

🏆 Main Tournament A – Jihlava Open 2025
The tournament will be played using the Swiss system over 7 rounds, rated for FIDE and Czech ELO.
Time control: 2×60 min + 30 s/move, or 90 min + 30 s if players with ELO ≥ 2400.

🔹 Prize fund: CZK 48,000
🔹 Cash prizes for the TOP 10, as well as the best in the following categories: S50+, S65+, women, juniors U21, and more
🔹 Special prize for the best U21 junior – nomination for the Junior Super Tournament (JST) and a cash reward of up to CZK 3,500
🔹 Option to take one "bye round" until Round 4 (inclusive)

⚡ Side Tournaments
Throughout the week, several other tournaments will also take place:

  • Tournament B (Rapid) – July 8, 7 rounds, 12+3 time control

  • Tournament C (Blitz) – July 9, 11 rounds, 3+2 time control

  • Tournament D (Pairs) – July 10, 11 rounds, Olympic scoring system

  • Tournament E (Juniors U23) – July 11, 7 rounds, rapid format, open to players born in 2002 or later

  • Tournament F (Freestyle Chess) – July 12, 7 rounds, 10+5 time control

Each tournament has its own prize pool and often includes special awards – for example, best mixed, women's or family pair.

Participants who register by June 1, 2025, are eligible for a CZK 200 discount on the entry fee (Main Tournament A).
Additional discounts apply to women, juniors U20, seniors S65+, titled players, and those who register early.

🎉 Venue and Side Program
The entire event takes place in the comfortable setting of the EA Business Hotel Jihlava, with discounted accommodation available for participants. Nearby attractions include Jihlava Zoo, aquapark, underground tunnels, and a museum.

Every evening will feature a colorful side program for participants, including social events, chess exhibitions, and tournaments in alternative chess formats.
